‘SILENT RIVER’ WINS THE FICBUEU 2011 12.09.2011

‘Silent River’ (Germany/Romania) has won the fourth edition of the International Short Film Festival of Bueu. The Polish animated short movie ‘Esterhazy’ has received the Second prize. The best Galician short film has been ‘De qué se ríen las hienas’, and ‘Dúas letras’ has get the People’s Choice Award.

FICBUEU 2011 VIDEO 08.09.2011

In this video you can see how the International Short Film Festival of Bueu is going. Actors and other team members of short movies competing in the festival mingle with a lot of people who attend the showings. At the end, everybody wants to vote in order to decide the People’s Choice Award.


FICBUEU 2011 SUCCESSFUL OPENING 06.09.2011

About 400 people went yesterday, Monday, to the Centro Social do Mar de Bueu in order to attend the FICBUEU2011’s first showing. The auditorium was packed with people of all ages. In the public, there were celebrities like the writer Fina Casalderrey or the actress Uxía Blanco. Another year, the International Short Film Festival of Bueu is going to be an authentic success.

ARRANCA O FICBUEU 2011 04.09.2011

The Fourth FICBUEU begins today, Monday, September 5, with five of the 25 short films that will be shown during the week. Showings will start at 21.30 at the Centro Social do Mar de Bueu (Pontevedra). Entrance is free. A wind-up party will close the International Short Film Festival of Bueu on Saturday.

GUESTS FICBUEU 2011 04.09.2011

Team members of diverse European short films will attend the FICBUEU 2011 next week. Representatives of the two Galician productions and other Spanish short movies competing in the festival will be present too. Some short films will be shown in Spain for the first time. The public has here also one of the few opportunities to watch international shorts in Galicia on the big screen.

FICBUEU 2011 WIND-UP PARTY 02.09.2011

Diana Quartet

Diana Tarin Band quartet will be performing live on Saturday 10 September in the FICBUEU2011 wind-up party. The group led by the Cuban singer will offer a varied repertoire of jazz, soul, funk and rithm&blues versions. Those who have attended the awards ceremony will receive at the end an invitation to enjoy the concert and a cocktail at Aturuxo pub. The closing ceremony will begin at 21.30 at the Centro Social do Mar.

FICBUEU 2011 PRESENTATION 25.08.2011

The Councillor of Culture, Andrés Lamosa, and the director of the International Shortfilm Festival of Bueu, Manuel Pena, presented this morning the FICBUEU2011's schedule. Between September 5 and 10, 25 works about the most diverse topics from 15 different countries will be projected at the Centro Social do Mar. This is the most international and high quality edition of the contest.

WE ARE STILL EXPANDING OUR FRONTIERS 10.05.2011

With the first 150 shortfilms we have received, FICBUEU is still expanding its frontiers and consolidating its international character. In previous editions, we received shortfilms from countries that belongs to the five contients. Most of them are increasing their participation each year, and in this first month, FICBUEU counts with the participation of some new countries as Algeria, Switzerland, Venezuela, Singapour, Armenie, Turkey, Romania or Israel.t

rulesAND HOW TO PLAY


The Fourth International Shortfilm Festival of Bueu will take place in Bueu (Pontevedra, Spain) from 5/9/2011 until 10/9/2011.

PARTICIPATION

The festival is open to all short films from anywhere in the world shot since 1/1/2008.

All kind of fiction short films can participate in the festival, irrespective of genres.
Documentaries are excluded because it is really difficult to evaluate them making a comparison with fiction works.

Works will not be more than 30 minutes long. Those shortfilms whose language is different of Spanish or Galicien must be subtitled in one of them. During the selection process, if shortfilms are not subtitled in one of that languages, a dialogue translation must be sent with the film.

We accept all kind of film formats, but we need a DVD copy too, in order to show the short film.

Each participant can present the number of works that he wants.

We do not accept short films that have been presented in any previous editions.

REGISTRATIONS AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE FESTIVAL

To take part in the festival, you must send us your work between 1/3/2011 and 25/6/2011. It will not be accepted after this date.

The panel will select 25 short films. We will announce the chosen titles on the festival’s web site on 20/7/2011.

We will inform them by e-mail too. In that e-mail, we will also ask for additional information and the graphics that we need for the development of the festival. They must be sent before 30/7/2011.

The festival:

- Five short films will be shown a day from 5/9/2011 to 9/9/2011.
- We will give the awards on Saturday 10/9/2011. The prizewinning short films will be shown again during this closing ceremony.

AWARDS

The panel will have five members related to the culture and the audiovisual production. They will give all the prizes, except the People’s choice award.

These are the awards:
First award: 2.000E and trophy.
Second award: 1.000E and trophy.
People’s choice award: 500E and trophy.
Best Galician short film: 500E and trophy.
Best director: Diploma.
Best screenplay: Diploma.
Best actress: Diploma.
Best actor: Diploma.
Best cinematography: Diploma.
Best art direction: Diploma.
Best costume design: Diploma.
Best make-up/hairdressing: Diploma.
Best sound: Diploma.
Best film editing: Diploma.
Best music: Diploma.


The winners of one of the four main awards must attend the closing ceremony. We will offer them free accommodation.

Cash prizes are subject to appropriate withholding tax.

For the technical award winners also will be provided free accommodation for the closing ceremony, as well as financial assistance for the trip.
