TALKS FROM HITCHCOCK TO GAME OF THRONES -

Specialists from the audiovisual sector will be in Bueu in September to share their knowledge with other professionals and the general public.

“Republican Cinema in Galicia: Ramón Barreiro and the Folk newsreel”. Castro de Paz. Saturday 9th – 11:30. Centro Social do Mar.

Coinciding with the opening day, professor José Luis Castro de Paz will be presenting the Noticiario Folk nº1, recently restored by CGAI. Through short stories about culture, sport or fishing, it brings us closer to the Galicia of 1932. With the showing of this film and the following talk, we are showcasing our audiovisual heritage and introducing one of the founders of the republican production company which for three years depicted the transformations of the country through film.

“Vertigo”, showing and analysis. Castro de Paz. Sunday 10th – 19:00. Centro Social do Mar.

The viewing of Vertigo, one of the most important films in cinema history, will be complemented by an analysis from professor José Luis Castro de Paz. As an expert of Hitchcock’s work, he will introduce us into what is a complex psychological intrigue, full of symbolism and open to multiple interpretations.

“Serial Living. TV Fiction in Today’s World”. Concepción Cascajosa. Saturday 16th – 12:00. Massó Museum.

Professor Concepción Cascajosa will look into the ability of contemporary TV series to portray our reality. They are a cultural product on the rise that has achieved a level of production, acting and complexity in its storytelling that no one thought possible just two decades ago.

“Galicia and Portugal, producing films both sides of the border”. António Costa. Saturday 16th – 18:00, Massó Museum.

Renowned Portuguese filmmaker and producer António Costa, director also of the Avanca Film Festival and member of the international jury for FICBUEU 2017, will speak about the motivation and possibilities in carrying out joint productions, while also showing us the challenges that can deliver a better and wider partnership.
