Around 15.400 people attended the 11º International Short Film Festival of Bueu (Pontevedra) since its inauguration on 7th September until last Sunday 16th, when the 5 Stars Tapas Route got to an end. All of the sessions of the competing sections, as well as the inauguration and closing events, hung the “sold out” sign at the Centro Social do Mar. Same as in the case of most of the parallel activities, like the concert of Xoel López, the monologue of Carlos Blanco or the family show of Paco Nogueiras. The cinematographic charlas-vermú and the colloquia with the filmmakers were also successful in terms of audience, filling up the FICBUEU’s Meeting Point.
More than 5.000 people attended the screenings of the festival, led by the International, Spain, Galicia and Panorama sections. In this figure we also include 1.400 students from up to ten schools of O Morrazo who enjoyed the Children, Juniors and Twining Sections, the latter with “El meu primer festival de cinema”. The rest of the activities counted with 3.000 people, while 7.200 tasted some of the 14 tapas of the 5 Starts Tapas Route. The International Short Film Festival of Bueu beat a participation record in this edition, whose programme gathered 50 proposals and 80 films.
The association FICBUEU will come back on October offering new cinematographic work shops, apart from the ones already established for vulnerable groups within the Social Area of the festival. This proposal came up after receiving several petitions, the association will offer writing, planning, filming and editing courses for everyone to approach the world of cinema. The registration is now open, those interested can get information about schedules and fees at firstname.lastname@example.org or at the association office during the mornings.
