Luis Zahera will receive the Galician Cinema Award at the 12th Bueu International Short Film Festival, which will take place between the 6th and 14th of September. Moreover, the public of FICBUEU 2019 will be able to get know in detail the intense career of the actor from Compostela in the Meeting with Luis Zahera that will take place on Saturday 7th at the Centro Social do Mar, starting at 6 pm.
Zahera made it to Galician homes at the end of the 90’s as the legendary barman “Petróleo” from Mareas vivas. Nowadays he is widely known in television, theatre and cinema, where he played memorable secondary roles. Concursante, Celda 211 or Que dios nos perdone are some of the feature films included in his CV. However, in the last year it is worth highlighting his masterful role in Rodrigo Sorogoyen’s film El reino, which earned him a Goya for best supporting actor. The film Mientras dure la guerra, directed by Alejandro Amenábar, has yet to be released. Meanwhile, he did not stop working on successful series, such as Sin tetas no hay paraíso or the recent Vivir sin permiso.
Apart from discovering the person behind all these characters, the Meeting with Luis Zahera will highlight one of the most unknown facets of his career with the screening of three short works. The short film O matachín, directed by Jorge Coira in 1996 and starring Zahera and Tosar at a very young age, is already considered a classic of the Galician audiovisual. Marina, by Álex Montoya, is a 2010 work, as the tribute winner never stopped working in this genre. The session will be completed with a chapter from Entre pipas, the singular web series that co-starred with Xúlio Abonjo.
The access to the Meeting with Luis Zahera will be free, but due to the limited capacity of the auditorium it is necessary to pick-up on the same day an invitation at the ticket office of the Centro Social do Mar, which will be open from 10:00 to 12:30 in the morning and from 17:00 in the afternoon.
