The 12th Bueu International Short Film Festival presents Mini-FIC: a complete agenda of activities for children ranging from short films and storytelling to live music and humour. It will take place mainly on the last day of the FICBUEU, Saturday 14th September, when the Closing Gala of the competition, among others, will be organised. Between Wednesday 11th and Friday 13th, throughout the morning, the Children’s Sessions will also be held at the Centro Social do Mar, which will be attended by more than 1,500 students from nine schools based in O Morrazo.
The Mini-FIC will begin on the 14th at 11 am with the Galician Schools Gala, led by the actress and narrator Beatriz Campos, sponsored by Kalandraka publishing house. During the event, the awards will be given to the best short films of the different educational levels, from pre-school to university, and the winners of each of the three categories will be screened.
At 12.30 pm the workshop ‘Cinema sounds good’ will be held by Caspervek Trio, which will highlight the important role played by music in cinema, complementing and enhancing visual content. The group will challenge the family audience to identify different films by their soundtrack and will even travel to the beginning of the seventh art to discover the silent film screenings with live music. Both activities will take place in the Centro Social do Mar with free access, but given the capacity limits it will be necessary to withdraw an invitation the same day at the ticket office.
In the afternoon, the activities will be transferred to the Encounter Point, located in the Exhibition Hall ‘Amalia Dominguez’, where at 17 pm will begin the session Tales and Cinema, which merges the stories narrated by Olalla González and the illustrations in real time by Marc Taeger. Finally, at 18 pm, outside the Centro Social do Mar will be held the concert PunkInfantil by Peter Punk and Brais das Hortas, a rocker and a children’s singer who will be forced to share the stage, so the fun is assured. All Mini-FIC activities are free and are sponsored by the fishing company Agustín Santomé SL.
