International filmmakers and Galician professionals will meet in the Closing Gala that will bring an intense FICBUEU 2019 to an end tomorrow. There will be renowned artists such as Xulio Abonjo, María Vázquez or Cris Iglesias, and award-winning directors  as Andres Goteira, Khris Cembe or David Fidalgo in a well-attended awards ceremony. However, the agenda of the 12th Bueu International Short Film Festival continues this afternoon and tomorrow with a broad programme. International filmmakers will participate in the awards ceremony alongside Galician artists and filmmakers.

After three days of screenings for students, the activities for children continue tomorrow at 11:00h with the Galician Schools Gala at the Centro Social do Mar, where the awards will be given and the winning works will be screened in the three categories into which this section is subdivided: special education, pre-school and primary; secondary education, and faculties and schools of image. The event, which highlights the great work being done by schools in audiovisual matters, is open to the public  and will be animated by the actress and narrator Beatriz Campos, with the collaboration of the Kalandraka publishing house.

Afterwards, at 12:15h, the ‘Cinema sounds good’ workshop will take place, in which Caspervek Trio will highlight the important role played by music in cinema, complementing and enhancing visual content, while challenging families to identify different films by their soundtrack, all with the support of musicologist and pedagogue Erea Carbajales. At the same time, at 24:30h the talk ‘The production of a film’ by Sergio Frade will begin at the Meeting Point. The executive producer of Frida Films will reveal to the public the complex process of carrying out a cinematographic project, especially the self-production of short films.

In the afternoon, the proposals for children will continue at 17:00h at the Meeting Point with the activity ‘Tales and cinema’, which will merge the stories told by Olalla González and the real time illustrations by Marc Taeger that will be seen on the big screen. At 18:00h, outside the Centro Social do Mar, Peter Punk and Brais das Hortas will offer the PunkInfantil Concert, in which a rocker and a children’s singer will be forced to share the stage. A discharge of live music, humor and juggling.

The closing activities of the 12th Bueu International Short Film Festival will start at 20:00h in the surroundings of the Centro Social do Mar with the music of The Swinging Flamingos, a concert with a lot of swing under the provincial plan Pontegal. The Closing Gala will start at 21:00h in the auditorium, in which the awards for the winning works will be given and the winning films of the Golden Amphora and the Audience Award will be screened again. All Saturday activities will be free of charge except for the Gala, for which there are no more seats.

In addition to the authors of the short films, the event will be attended by prominent figures of the film industry and representatives of the Concello de Bueu, Deputación de Pontevedra and Xunta de Galicia, among other sponsors, who will parade before the tapestry of flowers produced by the Asociación Cultural Alfombras de Corpus de Bueu. The ceremony, which will be led by the actor César Aldea accompanied by Severiano Casalderrey at the piano, can be followed in streaming and commented on through social networks. The assistants will attend then in the first floor to the closing party, a meeting between organization, guests and public where it will be tasted, among others, octopus of O Pulpeiro with wines of IXP Ribeiras do Morrazo.

Before the great moment for filmmakers arrives, the international guests of FICBUEU 2019 are getting to know our cultural, natural and gastronomic treasures through Turismo de Galicia. Yesterday they visited Cabo Udra with the collaboration of Estela Arqueoloxía e Patrimonio, today they travelled to Isla de Ons with Nabia and tomorrow at 16:30h they will enjoy a walk along the estuary aboard the traditional boats of the Os Galos association. Previously, at lunch time, they will have the opportunity to know the delights of our sea with pescadeRías, which organizes a guided tour of the dock, the fish market and the market square, where they will attend a cooking show.

Meanwhile, in today’s event there are still several activities, almost all with free admission. At 17:00h the Panorama Section will be screened and at 18:15h the very popular radio podcast ‘El cine de loqueyotediga’ will take place live, with interviews to international filmmakers and Andrés Goteira, director of ‘Dhogs’ and member of the national jury of FICBUEU 2019. At 20:00h it will be the final opportunity to see short films of the Nouvelle Vague in the Massó Museum. At 19:45h and 22:00h the last screenings of the International Section will also be presented, for which the last tickets will be sold in the ticket office from 16:30h onwards. The colloquium with the guest filmmakers will begin at 21:15h at the Meeting Point.
