FICBUEU opens the call for submissions and presents its 18th edition.
FICBUEU01/24/2025, Bueu. The Bueu International Film Festival has opened the call for short film submissions until April 20. As every year, FICBUEU will host an exquisite selection of works from around the world.
In addition to screenings, FICBUEU will continue inviting the public to participate in discussions, meetings, and activities related to the seventh art, including the programming of the IV Seminars. There will also be music, workshops, and a new edition of the 5 Star Tapas Route. Starting from September 15, MINIFIC will return with a full program of activities for children and educational centers.
We present the image for this new edition of the festival, inspired by the theme we will address through the Retrospective Section: exile and the image. The screenings of the Retrospective will be accompanied by the presentation and publication of the FICBUEU #6 Notebook “Images of Exile / Exiles of the Image,” created by researcher and educator José Manuel Mouriño, which will explore the figure of exile from its visual dimension.
The visual identity of the 18th edition is a painting by Remedios Varo, treated with the texture of a heatmap and movement, alluding to dislocation as a creative and aesthetic driving force.
