ONLINE PANEL. ART AND PROPAGANDA: CINEMA OF THE INTERWAR PERIOD
SATURDAY 7TH AT 05:00 PM. MULTIPURPOSE ROOMPart of the team from La escóbula de la Brújula, one of the most prominent podcasts focused on history and culture, will address the interwar period in this panel discussion. During this time, cinema was used both as a tool of propaganda and domination, as well as a medium for political critique and creative freedom.
The participants will provide an overview focused on the Russian Revolution and Soviet cinema, between avant-garde and propaganda; German Expressionism and Nazi totalitarianism; and how the Great Depression (1929-1939), the worst economic recession in the industrialized world, was reflected in global cinema.
The panel discussion will be available for online viewing in the festival social medias, and in the Multi-Purpose Hall where it will be screened.
