PRESENTATION OF FICBUEU MONOGRAPH #6. DESTINY AS FORM. IMAGES OF EXILE / EXILES OF THE IMAGE

SATURDAY 13TH AT 11:00PM. AMALIA DOMÍNGUEZ BÚA ROOM

The FICBUEU Monograph #6, in dialogue with the five titles that make up the retrospective, analyses the relationship between the concept of exile and the world of the cinematographic and audiovisual image. This essay is constructed by delving into the processes of research and reflection of two women poets and creators, the actress María Luisa Elío and the philosopher María Zambrano. At the same time, it analyses the way in which certain authors assume the creative process, essentially, as an experience. Their works, for this very reason, seem to become, at times, a kind of ‘temporary artefacts’ where their life and work converge (and are confused); their identities, their past or their memory with their destiny.

The author of FICBUEU Notebook #6 is José Manuel Mouriño, researcher, teacher, essayist and filmmaker. With a PhD in Fine Arts, Mouriño has curated exhibitions and carried out research and writings on authors such as Mikhail Romm, Andrei Tarkovsky, Norman McLaren and Pier Paolo Pasolini, among many others.

This presentation will be attended by Diego García, son of Jomí García Ascot, director of one of the films in the retrospective section, Remedios Varo 1913-1963 (1967); and Valentín García Gómez, head of the Secretaría General de Política Lingüística, who is once again supporting the publication of the booklet.
