SCREENING. THE CONVERSATION

The film The Conversation, made in 1974 by Francis Ford Coppola, will be the feature film screened in FICBUEU. This screening will conclude the III Cinema Seminars dedicated to exploring the influence of historical context on cinema.

This film made a significant contribution to the history of cinema and was distinguished with prestigious international awards such as the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and numerous nominations for the Oscars and Golden Globes, among others.

Overshadowed by the release of The Godfather II, this thriller by Francis Ford Coppola presents a disturbing plot around wiretapping as a method of espionage. The film reflects the social and political climate of the United States in the 1970s, a time when the Watergate scandal had become an international scandal. From this moment on, beyond political interests, anyone could be surveilled. It marked the beginning of a new era.
