Open call for participation in the second edition of the FICBUEU Residency
FICBUEUThe deadline for participation will be from Monday, April 15th to May 15th.
Bueu. 15/04/2024 – The Bueu International Film Festival has just announced the opening of the call for the second edition of the FICBUEU Residency, its short film script development program which will take place again this fall on the Island of Ons.
In October 2023, the Bueu contest premiered its new project for promoting short film format, the FICBUEU Residency. After receiving a total of 122 proposals, four of them were selected to be mentored by the screenwriter Isabel Peña and other audiovisual professionals such as Carmen Ávalos, Elena Neira, or Cormorán VFX. In addition to participating in a whole week dedicated to the study and improvement of their scripts, the residents were eligible for the production prize awarded by the organization, which ultimately went to “Sismes” by Jordi Sanz Angrill.
With the conclusion of this first edition, FICBUEU is committed to consolidating this project, which adds to the already extensive list of activities and initiatives related to cinema that the team carries out throughout the year.
The II FICBUEU Residency will take place on the Island of Ons from October 16th to 23rd, and will once again feature mentoring from renowned film professionals, whose names will be announced in the coming months through the festival’s usual channels. “Starting this project with Isabel Peña was a real luxury, and although it’s challenging, our idea is to maintain the level of the participating professionals, offering a unique opportunity for the residents”, comments the organization.
The program’s methodology includes different types of meetings for script work (individual and group tutoring), as well as specific training in other aspects to consider when strengthening audiovisual projects. Additionally, throughout the week, several production meetings will be held, allowing the organization to assess the progress and status of the proposals and select the winner of the edition.
From the direction of FICBUEU, they invite you to listen to interviews with last year’s residents, available on their social networks, to learn about their opinions, highlighting that “Even with the very positive experience we had at the residency’s debut, in this second edition, we aim to improve the program based on the suggestions of the residents, so that the work schedules are more optimized.”
The requirements for participation can be found here, and the registration deadline will remain open until May 15th. It will be the FICBUEU team along with the mentoring person who will select the four finalist projects.
