In the 1970s, a group of youngsters from A Coruña took to the city’s beaches to try to ride the waves. With hardly any guidance in a society that still turned its back on the sea, they made their own surfboards, discovered new spots and, without realising it, marked the beginning of the history of surfing in Galicia. Through the testimonies of four of them, we learn how, drawing on their previous individual experiences linked to the sea, they took up surfing and formed the city’s first group of surfers.
