In Oukout, four women meet every Sunday with their group to self-manage a micro-credit system alongside the rice harvest, as individualism has no place in their society. Together they strive for a balance between traditional life and economic independence. Kalabukú – ‘the women’ in the language – are sowing the seeds of a change that is in the making.
