Bueu, June 11, 2026 – The Bueu International Film Festival (FICBUEU) has been recognized by the Spanish Film Academy as a qualifying festival for the Goya Awards in the categories of Best Fiction Short Film, Best Documentary Short Film, and Best Animated Short Film.
The festival’s inclusion on the official list of qualifying festivals marks a significant milestone in its trajectory and serves as recognition of its longstanding commitment to excellence in programming and the promotion of the short film format throughout eighteen editions.
This recognition confirms the quality and rigor of the festival’s programming, consolidating FICBUEU as a key meeting point for filmmakers, production companies, and audiovisual industry professionals. From now on, short films competing in the festival’s official section will be eligible for consideration in the submission and evaluation process for the Goya Awards in the corresponding categories. In addition, the First Prize winner will receive specific consideration within this procedure.
The FICBUEU team received the news with great satisfaction. It represents recognition of the work carried out over the years and further establishes the festival as one of the leading short film festivals on the Spanish film scene.
This recognition comes just ahead of the festival’s 19th edition, which will take place from September 4 to 19 in Bueu and will once again bring together a wide selection of the best national and international short films.
