Bueu, May 26, 2026 – A well-established section within the festival that seeks to highlight the audiovisual work developed in Galician educational institutions and support new generations of filmmakers.
The Galician Schools Section is aimed at educational centres, university faculties, and audiovisual training schools based in Galicia, and will once again feature three competitive categories: Special Education, Preschool and Primary Education; Secondary Education; and Galician Film Schools and University Faculties.
The rules of the call and the short film submission form are now available on the festival’s website and can be accessed by clicking here. The submission period will remain open until June 30, 2026.
All audiovisual works produced during the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic years that have not been submitted in previous editions of the festival may participate. The subject matter of the works is open.
Short films created by Special Education, Preschool, Primary, and Secondary Education centres may have a maximum running time of 20 minutes, while productions from Film Schools and University Faculties may run up to 30 minutes. Each institution may submit as many works as it wishes.
The finalist works will be announced throughout the month of August and will be screened as part of FICBUEU 2026, which will celebrate its 19th edition from September 4 to 19 in Bueu.
The selected works will compete for the following awards:
- Best Short Film in Special Education, Preschool and Primary Education: trophy and audiovisual training.
- Best Short Film in Secondary Education: trophy and audiovisual training.
- Best Short Film from Galician Film Schools and University Faculties: trophy and audiovisual training.
The jury will particularly value the active participation of students in all stages of the creative process, as well as the originality of the proposals and the use of audiovisual language.
The winning short films will be announced during the FICBUEU 2026 Galician Schools Gala, which will take place on September 19 as part of the festival programme.
