Bueu, 15/07/2026 -The Festival Internacional de Cinema de Bueu, which will take place from 4 to 19 September, unveils today its visual identity for this edition. The image revolves around science fiction, one of the central themes of its programme. “The festival thus explores the boundary where certainty turns into mystery and where the visible coexists with the ineffable,” the organisers explain.

The black core present in the compositions symbolises what remains beyond our reach, what science fiction invites us to imagine rather than explain. The use of gradients emerging from a deep black centre and expanding towards an infinite white transforms the image into a metaphor for the short film itself as a space for exploration and experimentation.
The proposal constitutes a graphic identity consistent with the festival’s values: audacity, imagination and experimentation. The images do not illustrate science fiction literally; they evoke its absence. In a visual context saturated with explicit images and immediate messages, this apparent simplicity reclaims the value of suggestion and invites viewers to pause before what cannot easily be defined.
The images put forward a minimalist and evocative visual language that directly engages with the theme of science fiction, which will be explored in the Retrospective section and in the FICBUEU Notebook, both of which will be presented in the coming weeks.
