The 18th Bueu International Film Festival will be held from 5 to 20 September 2025 in the town of Bueu, and will aim to screen and promote the best short films made in the last two years internationally.
Participation is open to all works released from 1 January 2024 onwards, and creators of any nationality may participate as long as they are 18 years of age or older. Works of any genre may be submitted, with a maximum duration of 30 minutes (credit titles included). Each participant may submit as many works as they wish. Short films that have already been submitted in previous editions will not be accepted.
OFFICIAL JURY
Beatriz Hernández is a producer and cultural manager with a degree in Audiovisual Communication. She is currently the artistic director of the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival, a project that has been held in Benidorm since 2017 with the aim of promoting cinema in the city.
Since June 2022, she has chaired the Coordinadora del Cortometraje Español, an association that defends the short film as an independent format from the feature film and promotes its industrial development. She is also one of the founders and vice-president of FESCICOM, Asociación de Festivales de Cine de la Comunitat Valenciana.
As a producer, she has worked on series such as Cosmos, for FOX and National Geographic, and on advertising campaigns for brands such as Hugo Boss Kids and FIAT
Massimo Iannetti is a film programmer and film festival professional.
He holds an MA in Film Studies, Programming and Curating from the National Film and Television School in the UK. He is currently part of the programming team of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, the Edinburgh International Film Festival and Lago Film Fest, in the Italian town of Revine Lago.
In addition, he works as Market Coordinator at Sheffield DocFest and as Industry Manager at Pordenone Docs Fest Throughout the year, he also collaborates with other international film festivals and markets such as the BFI London Film Festival and When East Meets West.
Eloy Domínguez Serén is a Galician filmmaker and teacher. His films have been screened at festivals such as IDFA, Mar del Plata, Visions du Réel, and Clermont-Ferrand, as well as at the Anthology Film Archives, the Centre Pompidou, and the Reina Sofía Museum.
His first feature-length documentary, No cow on the ice, premiered at Visions du Réel 2015. In 2017, he participated in Berlinale Talents with Hamada—premiered at IDFA 2018—a film selected for numerous festivals. In 2020, he filmed Los cuerpos, and in 2022, he premiered her first fiction film, Madrugada, which won the Biznaga de Plata for Best Fiction Short Film at the Malaga Film Festival and is a candidate for the 2023 Goya Awards. In 2024, he shot her first feature-length fiction film, Tralovento, currently in post-production.
In addition to his work as a filmmaker, he teaches at the Faculty of Communication Sciences at the University of Santiago de Compostela.
DISCOVERIES JURY
Director of the Directed by Women Spain Festival. Cultural manager, programmer and production coordinator at film festivals and artistic events, she has worked at Iberseries and Platino Industria, Alcine – Alcalá de Henares International Film Festival, Emergente! CineLab, MAFIZ- Festival de Málaga, Torino Film Lab and Rizoma Festival.
She is also the logistical manager of Documenta Madrid and Animario, at Cineteca Madrid, and current deputy director of the Audiovisual Cluster of Madrid, as well as being a member of the board of directors of Matriz-Red de Festivales de Cine de Madrid and of the cultural association MYC-Mujeres y Cine
Xavier Montoriol is a filmmaker, critic and translator born in Barcelona. A graduate in Modern Languages and Literatures (UB), he also holds a Master’s degree in Comparative Studies in Literature, Art and Thought (UPF) and a postgraduate degree in Audiovisual Curatorship (EQZE). He has written for media such as A Cuarta Parede, Otros Cines Europa, Outskirts, À pala de Walsh and Muelle5, a space he co-founded. His first short film, Cantarà l’alosa, premiered at Curtas Vila do Conde in 2024.
Elba Fernández is dedicated to both musical composition and graphic design for the audiovisual field.
She has created two musical projects, Jane Joyd (2009 – 2014) and Mordem (2015) with which she has released several references and albums and travelled, giving concerts on tours and major national festivals. As a result of this musical facet she begins to make original music for film and TV along with the musician Xavi Font, coinciding in projects such as Hierro, Auga Seca, Ons, Donde acaba la memoria, Código: Emperor, Rapa or Sica.
Her graphic facet consists of making key art and graphic design for cinema and series, making works such as posters, headers, design for project development, titles or logos for different national production companies.
