Bueu, September 18, 2025 – FICBUEU brings its 18th edition to a close next Saturday the 20th with a day dedicated to all audiences.
At 11:00 AM, the Gala for Galician Schools will take place at the auditorium of the Centro Social do Mar, where the finalist works from the Educational Centers Section will be screened, and awards will be presented to the winning short films in the categories of Special Education, Early Childhood and Primary Education, and Secondary Education.
The ceremony will be hosted by writer and editor Olalla González, accompanied by visual artist Marc Taeger, who will create live drawings and animations throughout the event. There will also be live music performed by Martín, Carmen, and Juan Sánchez Paz.
Outside the Centro Social do Mar, visitors can enjoy the show “The Fair of Illusions”, an artistic installation centered around cinema. It is an exhibition space where, through zoetropes, praxinoscopes, and other inventions, we’ll discover how moving images were born. The Fair of Illusions is a theatricalized installation styled as a 19th-century traveling fair of mechanical marvels. Organized by the Burgos-based group Errabundo Pelele, the show offers a journey through the history of optical toys and visual illusions that led to the birth of cinema.
The installation will be free to the public, with access available from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM and again from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM, featuring several 15-minute performances of this theatrical show.
We will close the day with the Family Shorts Section at 6:30 PM, a session suitable for all audiences. It features a selection of six international short films from countries including the Czech Republic, France, Belgium, and Brazil.
