Bueu, July 5, 2026 – Science fiction is the focus of the winning image in the FICBUEU competition for its children’s and youth programme.
The competition organised by the Bueu International Short Film Festival (FICBUEU) to create the image that will become part of the visual identity of MINIFIC 2026 now has a winning work.
Beltrán García López was selected as the winner with his creation, which won over the jury thanks to its originality, creativity and its ability to represent the universe of science fiction, the theme that will feature both in the FICBUEU Notebook and the Retrospective Section of the festival’s 19th edition.
The illustration successfully combines elements characteristic of science fiction with an imaginative and personal perspective, resulting in a proposal that connects perfectly with the spirit of MINIFIC and stands out for its visual strength and evocative power.
The winning artwork will be integrated as the central element of the official image of MINIFIC 2026, the programme of activities and screenings aimed at children, school audiences and young people at FICBUEU, and will serve as the inspiration for its visual identity throughout this edition.
As recognition, Beltrán García López will receive a print of his artwork and two invitations to attend the screening of the Shorts for Families section, which will close the MINIFIC programme on Saturday, 19 September.
The response to this call for entries was extraordinary. The festival received numerous submissions, making the task of selecting the winning work especially challenging. The jury wished to highlight the high level of creativity, imagination and expressive ability shown by all the participating girls, boys and young people. The high level of participation once again demonstrates the importance of promoting spaces that encourage creativity and artistic expression from an early age.
