FICBUEU was created with the aim of promoting short films, bringing people closer to a film format that is excluded from cinemas and distribution circuits. Thanks to the introduction of the Retrospective Section at the 2019 festival, this objective was complemented by the promotion of short films that played an important role in the history of cinema.

The screening of the films is complemented by the FICBUEU Monographs project, a series of publications that allow for a deeper understanding of the works presented and the context in which they are framed, contributing in this way to the historiography of this format.

The Cuaderno FICBUEU#3 aims to delve into the weight that the IIEC and EOC classrooms had, respectively, being the seed of a new generation of filmmakers who reformed cinema in the 50s, 60s and 70s.
