Bueu, April 17, 2026 – On Saturday, April 25, a new edition of Night of Festivals will take place. This initiative, now in its third edition, has established itself as a meeting point between international film festivals and the Galician audience around short-form cinema.
The program consists of a special screening made up of four short films selected by invited festivals from different countries. Each one contributes a work representative of its curatorial approach, resulting in a diverse and highly engaging program that offers access to films that are rarely seen in traditional distribution circuits.
With this activity, FICBUEU continues its work of visibility, international outreach, and promotion of short films, while also encouraging professional and cultural exchange with other festivals.
In this edition, the Night of Festivals will feature four international film festivals:
The Adriatic Film Festival (Italy), focused on independent and auteur cinema, presents La coda di una balena, by Irene Ciavalini. The short film follows three sailors from the northern pier of Pescara who spend most of their time at sea, facing the challenges of a disappearing profession, without protection or consideration.
One of the leading film festivals in Southeast Asia, the Chaktomuk Short Film Festival (Cambodia), presents Grand Mai Who Played Favorites, by Chheangkea. In the story, a grandmother rises from her grave in Phnom Penh to prevent her grandson’s arranged marriage and help him accept his identity.
The Alexandria Short Film Festival (Egypt), one of the most established festivals in the Middle East, selected Night of Lovers, by Khaled Gharib. Set in one of the poorest areas of Cairo, the film portrays the difficult and lonely life of Saber and his secret love for Wydad.
Completing the program is the Curtas Vila do Conde International Film Festival (Portugal), a reference festival with more than three decades of history, which brings Sol Menor, by André Silva Santos, to Bueu. The film follows Samuel, a flute teacher who is navigating grief after the loss of his partner while going through a period of personal change.

The screening will take place on Saturday, April 25 at 9:00 PM at the Centro Social do Mar in Bueu. Tickets can be purchased through the festival’s website or at the box office on the day of the event, starting one hour before the screening.
